Bourbon Pomegranate Cocktail

We lost our 💛 to this pomegranate whiskey sour! It’s made with a delightfully sweet-tart pomegranate simple syrup, the perfect companion for Bulleit bourbon’s deep, caramelly notes. And, thanks to a little egg white, it’s lush and creamy. What gives it that elegant, ruby ombre around the rocks? A gentle pour of syrah. It adds some fruit, without making the sour too sweet. As it swirls into the cocktail, it will turn it a dusty pink — don’t be fooled. This is a bold, earthy drink with plenty of sophistication (and booze!).
Here’s the recipe:
1. Combine ½ cup POM juice and ½ cup granulated sugar in a small saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring continuously, until the sugar dissolves. Remove the pan from the heat and let cool.
2. Combine 2 oz Bulleit bourbon, 1 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice, ½ oz pomegranate simple syrup, and 1 egg white in a cocktail shaker filled halfway with ice. Shake for 30 seconds.
3. Fill a rocks glass with ice and strain the cocktail into the glass.
4. Gently add ½ oz fruity syrah by pouring it over the back of a bar spoon so that the wine floats on the top of the cocktail.
5. Repeat steps 2 through 4 for the second cocktail and enjoy! 💕
