Did you know that Lynda Carter appeared on Starsky and Hutch before receiving her titular tenure on the 1970s series Wonder Woman, or did you think that she had simply been born into the role of the iconic hero? Lynda Carter was taller than many of her female peers when she was coming of age, though few predicted that the young woman would go on to use this height to her advantage when portraying the titular character on the hit 1970s television series Wonder Woman. Before venturing into acting, Lynda had toured America with her high school rock band, named Just Us. Upon returning from the tour, she started modeling and became Miss USA.

After being crowned Miss USA in 1973, it was only a matter of time before Lynda started appearing on television. Her earliest roles came via guest-starring spots on television series such as the aforementioned Starsky and Hutch. The success of her guest-starring turns opened up the doors for Lynda to play the character of Wonder Woman. Lynda debuted as the character in a 1975 television special, and the special was followed by a television series in 1976.

The CBS network had initially been unsure if the television audience was ready to accept a female superhero. However, their gamble with Wonder Woman paid off! The show became a massive hit, and launched Lynda to superstardom. Following her role on the series, Lynda has continued acting, and still pops up in films and on television today!
