Welcome to Fallbrook
Country living and only 15 miles from the Ocean, welcome to Fallbrook California in North County San Diego. Fallbrook is a little off the beaten path, and the downtown area is not on any major highway, but although it’s a small city, it has a lot to offer!
The community of Fallbrook consists of 36,000 acres and is located just south of Riverside County and east of Camp Pendleton.
Most of the area is characterized by rolling hills with avocado and citrus orchards. The quant town center is located near the western boundary. The town surrounds a unique historical district that has become the focus of a current revitalization effort.
Each spring, Fallbrook hosts the Avocado Festival, which is a showcase of the area’s rich agricultural heritage.
The Santa Margarita River crosses through the rugged terrain in the northern portion and is well known to the locals of Fallbrook because of the Santa Margarita River Trail. Let’s go down and check out the trail.
This hike follows the shores of the Santa Margarita River and there are over 100 species of animals on the trail. The peaceful river banks also hold glimpses into the area’s past, including Native American artifacts and relics of a railroad that once connected San Diego to the outside world. Today the Santa Margarita River Trail is protected and well-marked thanks to the non-profit Wildlands Conservancy. It’s a beautiful trail that’s easy, with a flat 3 mile option or a longer 5.7 hike to a hidden beach.
The busy and vibrant town center is located near the western boundary. The town surrounds a unique historical district that has become the focus of a current revitalization effort.
Each spring, Fallbrook hosts the Avocado Festival, which is a showcase of the area’s rich agricultural heritage. While olives were a significant crop in Fallbrook’s early days, nursery plants account for the greatest revenue numbers today. However, it is the immensely popular avocado that has become Fallbrook’s trademark product.
